Discovering new things to do and see in your town or city can be an exciting feeling. Taking transit allows you to do all the sightseeing and activities you want without the hassle of driving – or parking! It can also help you support local businesses and find hidden treasures around your neighbourhood. Let’s hop on the bus and start exploring Terrace.

First, grab your #BusPass and mask and head to the nearest bus stop for route 1 College/Halliwell. This 15-minute trip between Coast Mountain College and Skeena Mall is a quick way to get around town, make some stops to support local business and get what you need.

Let’s board at Coast Mountain College and head over to Terrace Public Library to browse and pick up a new book to read at home, or a park once we get into the warmer months. If you’ve started early in the day and need that little pick-me-up, stop by Cafenara for a cup of coffee and a snack to get some energy for the day ahead. Check out their seasonal ‘Feature of the Week’ drink as well.

Located next to Cafenara, Misty River Books is a great place to pick up a new novel to read on the bus. Their friendly staff will be happy to help you pick out your next ‘choose your own adventure’ book.

After your stop in the land of books, head over to the local craft brewery and quench your thirst for some delicious local beer, just a short walk from the Terrace City Hall. Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse is a staple of Terrace and with good reason. Their beer is an excellent way to get a true taste of Terrace, they also have a variety of seasonal beers and Pilot Project Brews for you to try. Grab a beer on their (heated) patio in the winter! If you try the Lava Bed Red Ale or one of their seasonal brews, you won’t regret it.

Before you head back to school or home, be sure to stop along the route at Gemma’s and check out all the genuine artwork, jewelry and carvings by First Nations artists they have available. They also carry lots of home décor, collectibles and kitchen gadgets if you’re looking for great gift ideas.

These are just some of the great places to safely visit along route 1 College/Halliwell. Hop off along the route and discover the town at your own pace. Maybe you’ll find a hidden gem (or two) of your own. You can also take your transit trip to the next level with one of our BC-themed Spotify playlists along the way – just don’t forget to wear your mask!
